Apply for a Building Information Certificate

A Building Information Certificate confirms Council is satisfied with any works that have been carried out on a property and will not issue an order to repair, demolish or rebuild the building for the next seven years.

However, orders may be issued if premises are in an unsatisfactory state or in the event of deterioration.

Please note, Council may still issue orders to ensure adequate fire safety in a building, even if a Building Information Certificate already exists for the property.

To apply for a Building Information Certificate, you need to:

1. download and complete Council's Building Information Certificate Application Form
2. have an up-to-date and current survey of the property
3. submit your application via the NSW Planning Portal.

Approximate turnaround time is three weeks, but it can be longer where an inspection or more in-depth historical review are required.
