Family History Help Desk

Our friendly volunteers provide one-on-one assistance with researching your family history, using the heritage resources of the library and the internet.

The Help Desk is open by appointment on Fridays from February to December, between 10am - 12pm in the Heritage Centre on Level 1 of Stanton Library.

Suitable for beginner/intermediate level enquiries.

Bookings are essential.

These websites are accessible in the library and from any public terminal inside the library network:

Stanton Library has extensive historical material on people and the local places in which they lived. Search the digital collections and the Stanton Library catalogue.

Stanton Library has a selection of hardcopy and microfiche materials. These include the Sands Directory, street files, telephone directories and Council minute books. Some are accessed by appointment only, but all are available for viewing in the North Sydney Heritage Centre.

Your property in the Heritage database

To obtain a copy of the Heritage Database Sheet for your property in North Sydney, the NSW Office of Environment and Heritage Office allows you to search the State Heritage Register. This contains the Heritage Database sheets for North Sydney LGA, as well as links to online lists of practising heritage architects and planners.
