North Sydney Council's Creative Spaces program supports artists and creatives to make, work, learn, and engage with the wider North Sydney community across Cammeraygal Country.
The annual Creative Spaces Residency program provides subsidised studio space for up to 11 creative practitioners across three key creative hubs: Primrose Park Artists' Studios, Alfred St Studios and the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability.
Dedicated program strands include a culturally supported First Nations Creative Residency and a socially engaged, interdisciplinary residency at the Coal Loader with a focus on ecological and sustainable practices.
The Don Bank Museum Writer in Residence program is run by Stanton Library, in partnership with Writing NSW.
The Creative Spaces Program also contributes to other Council arts programs including:
Creative Communities: Free, regular, artist-led community projects that include workshops, demonstrations, studio visits, performances, screenings and more
Creative Conversations: A free, bi-monthly series of curated panel talks on issues and ideas inspired by the work, experiences and ideas of our artists in residence
Other creative spaces across Council including the Inside/Outside Sculpture Plinth in Ted Mack Civic Park and the In Transit Gallery in Council Chambers.
The Creative Spaces program is part of Council's commitment to increasing the number of places and spaces available for cultural participation and creative production. The program supports and promotes the value of creativity and artists within the North Sydney community and beyond.
