Celebrate all things love across North Sydney this February and March
In a celebration of love and inclusivity, North Sydney is set to host a series of events and activations under the banner of Embrace Love. The initiative aims to foster unity and acceptance within the community, embracing diversity and highlighting the importance of love in all its forms.
The festivities kick off on 12 February with the unveiling of a large-scale, temporary artwork, 'Prideful Community', in Brett Whiteley Place. This visually captivating piece by queer artist Wayde Clarke, a proud Wiradjuri and Birpai artist, is expected to serve as a powerful symbol of unity and diversity in North Sydney. Runs until 10 March.
Grab your (gal/pal/val)-entine and head to one of our lovely events at Cammeraygal Place and Hume Street Park this Valentines Day. Lovely string musicians will be playing from 10am to 11.45am at Cammeraygal Place and 5pm to 7:45pm at Hume Street Park. Enjoy music while you enjoy a meal or takeaway from one of the local restaurants and cafes.
On 16 February, North Sydney Council Chambers on 200 Miller Street will host a flag raising ceremony at 1pm. The event will feature speeches, free ice cream and rainbow giveaways, emphasising the community's commitment to diversity and acceptance.
Circle Wednesday 21 February in your calendar, because you do not want to miss our Embrace Love event! From 12pm to 2pm in Brett Whiteley Place, NTH SYD will be showcasing talented queer artists. Think drag queens, an illustration artist and an ice-cold treat giveaway!
As part of an ongoing initiative from Stanton Library's Local History Collection, the community is invited to contribute to North Sydney's history by sharing their local queer memories, stories and life events. This unique opportunity to preserve and celebrate the rich tapestry of the LGBTIQA+ community is open to all, inviting both members and allies to be a part of this historic collection.
Embrace Love promises a month of joy, celebration and unity in North Sydney, creating lasting memories and fostering a sense of belonging for all.
