Stanton Library’s Heritage Centre and May Gibbs’ Nutcote are excited to unveil a special exhibition in celebration of the 100th anniversary of May Gibbs' cherished Bib and Bub cartoon strip.
As part of History Week, Stanton Library’s Heritage Centre will feature a free exhibition showcasing original cartoon strips and rare books. This display provides an in-depth look into Gibbs' creative world and her significant impact on Australian comic art.
At the same time, May Gibbs’ Nutcote will present a separate exhibition, included with museum entry, highlighting Gibbs’ journey from children's author to iconic cartoonist.
Visitors will see original artwork and learn about the cultural significance of Bib and Bub, reflecting Gibbs' influence on Australian childhood through her whimsical characters set against the Australian bush.
Both exhibitions will be open to the public from 12 September 2024.
