From Wednesday 9 July 2025, Council will begin trialling a new style of notification signage for development applications (DAs).
Over the coming weeks, you may notice a change to the style of DA notification signs across the area. The new signs are printed on A3 white waterproof paper, replacing the previous yellow corflute boards.
Why the change?
The new signage has several benefits:
- Cost effective: Each sign costs approximately $2, compared to $11 for the previous boards.
- Sustainable: Made from recyclable materials and less resource-intensive to produce. While the old corflute signs were intended to be reusable, in practice they were often not returned or were too damaged to be reused. The new signs are designed for single use but are recyclable, making them a more practical and environmentally friendly solution.
- Modern and accessible: The new format features the key information about the development application in bigger, more legible text. It also includes a QR code linking directly to Council’s DA tracking system, making it easier to view plans and related documents online.
- In line with best practice: Aligns with signage approaches used by other councils.
Share your feedback on the signage trial
Council has ordered enough signs for a 12-month trial period. During this time, we welcome community feedback on the new signage. You can share your thoughts via Council’s YourSay webpage.
Blue corflute boards will continue to be used for Planning Proposals, as Council has sufficient stock to meet future needs.
