A managed hazard reduction and ecological burn is scheduled for Badangi Reserve, Wollstonecraft on Wednesday 8 October, in collaboration with NSW Fire and Rescue.

The burn will reduce bushfire risk in the reserve and support the regeneration of native bushland vegetation.

It will cover approximately 0.4 hectares on the foreshore of Oyster Cove, southeast of Tryon Avenue, Wollstonecraft and will happen between 8.30am and 4pm. If weather conditions are unsuitable, the burn may be postponed for up to 14 days.

Walking tracks through Badangi Reserve will be closed during the burn for public safety. The tracks may remain closed after the burn until any hazards, such as dead trees or overhead branches, are made safe.

The burn will produce smoke and possibly embers.

To minimise discomfort and risk, neighbouring residents are encouraged to:

  • keep windows and doors closed
  • avoid hanging washing outside
  • protect outdoor items such as plastic toys, trampolines and synthetic grass
  • ensure pets are safe and comfortable indoors

Local residents been notified via letterbox drop.

This activity is part of the 2025/26 Mosman-North Sydney-Willoughby Bushfire Management Committee’s annual program of works and will help to manage bushfire risk in line with the Bushfire Risk Management Plan

If you have any questions, please contact the Bushland Management Coordinator on 9936 8224.
