North Sydney Council is pleased to announce that North Sydney Olympic Pool has officially reached Practical Completion, marking the formal handover of the facility from the construction contractor to Council.
This milestone means the keys to the iconic harbour-side pool have been handed to Council, signalling the transition from construction to operational readiness ahead of opening day.
The facility, which first opened in 1936 and has been enjoyed by generations of Sydneysiders, will reopen to the public on Friday 7 August 2026, during its 90th anniversary year.
Following the official opening ceremony and 90th anniversary celebrations on Friday afternoon, the community is invited to enjoy the facility free of charge throughout the opening weekend, from 7–9 August, with no ticket required.
Visitors can explore the pool's extensive facilities, including the 50-metre outdoor pool, indoor lap pool, indoor program pool, kids' pool and splash pad. Guests can also relax in the spa, sauna and steam room, and take a self-guided tour of the gym, group fitness studios, sundeck and gelato bar.
A range of family-friendly activities and entertainment will run throughout the weekend, creating a welcoming atmosphere for residents and visitors of all ages.
Council is also offering free guided community tours of the facility before it opens. Tours run from 13 July to 5 August and bookings are now open.
