A trial pocket park is being created in East Crescent St, McMahons Point, as part of the NSW Government's Streets as Shared Spaces program. The new park on the corner of East Crescent Street and Blues Point Road will include a turfed area, timber seating Crepe Myrtle and Chinese Elm trees as well as colourful flowering shrubs.
Part of the street will become a one-way shared zone for traffic turning into East Crescent Street from Blues Point Road. A raised continuous footpath will be constructed across the intersection to increase pedestrian safety and reduce traffic speed.
A number of features of the temporary park can be easily made permanent if the pocket park is supported by the community and Council.
