Willoughby Road in Crows Nest has been refreshed with new paving, lighting and street furniture with a contemporary design. The upgrade extends from Burlington to Albany Street and includes many popular outdoor dining areas and entertainment areas.

Project update
Ausgrid is in the process of undergrounding the overhead power cables on Willoughby Road from Burlington Street to Albany Street.
Works dates:
- 5 and 6 May 2025 from 7.30am – on either side of the Willoughby Road footpath entrance to the number 90 Public Arcade
- 6 May 2025 from 7.30am – on the footpath outside number 56 shop
- 6 May 2025 from 7.30am – on Albany St (south west side) near the corner of Willoughby Road

Note: There will be NO power interruptions.
By June, the wooden power poles and overhead wires are expected to be removed. This will be followed by street tree planting to utilise the new airspace.
Project history
- Council adopted the preferred design option 1C on 27 February 2023.
- The tender for undergrounding of power and lighting upgrade was awarded on 28 August 2023.
- Construction commenced 5 October 2023, with anticipated completion October 2024.
