Smart Strata: Sustainability Capacity-Building Program

Empowering apartment communities to plan and deliver sustainability upgrades

Smart Strata is a 10-month workshop series designed for strata residents, committee members and building champions who want to move from interest to action on sustainability upgrades in apartment buildings in 2026.

The program combines expert-led workshops, practical case studies and peer-to-peer learning to build confidence, reduce complexity and support real on-the-ground outcomes.

What the Program Covers

Participants gain practical guidance on:

  • Solar and battery systems for strata
  • EV charging infrastructure and governance
  • Strata law and decision-making for upgrades
  • Budgeting, capital works planning and futureproofing
  • Building effective executive committees and engaged communities
  • Transitioning to all-electric apartment buildings

How the Program Works

  • 6 expert-led in-person workshops
  • 1 in-person networking event
  • Ongoing peer support via a moderated WhatsApp group
  • Local case studies, real-world examples and clear next steps
  • Pathways to Council programs, rebates and external funding

Participants are encouraged to attend at least 5 of 7 sessions across the year to support continuity and shared learning.
