Right to information laws changed on 1 July 2010.
All New South Wales state and local government agencies reformed the way government-held information is provided to members of the public.
It replaced previous access to information legislation, namely Freedom of Information (FoI) laws and Section 12 of the Local Government Act. The new right to information system requires councils and other government agencies to proactively release documents to improve openness, transparency and accountability in government.

Section 6 of the GIPA Act requires that open access information must be disclosed on the website of an agency unless there is an overriding public interest against disclosure. For local councils, this includes the disclosure of the returns of interest of councillors and designated persons (staff).

Declarations of Candidate's Campaign and Political Donations:
Part 8A, Section 328A of the Local Government Act 1993, requires the Council to keep a register of copies of current declarations of disclosures of political donations lodged by Councillors with the Electoral Commission NSW. Satisfying this condition is this link to Electoral Commission NSW.
