Be Seen: Portraits of Queer North Sydney
Be Seen is an archival project by Anna Hay and Sophie Willison exploring how LGBTQIA+ lives are shaped through memory, identity, and relationship to place.
The work brings together participants connected to the North Sydney Local Government Area on Cammaraygal Land. Through living, working, family history or social and cultural ties, the project examines how queer experience is lived through shifting relationships to visibility, belonging and everyday environments.
Through intimate portraiture and conversation, the work forms a nuanced record of queer life as it exists within a specific urban context, offering a collective reflection on what it means to be seen and how identity is shaped by both personal history and the environments we move through.
Be Seen was commissioned by North Sydney Council as part of Pride Month 2026.
