Flexi-time and Rostered Days Off (RDOs)

Most indoor staff can access flexi-time. This system enables staff to bank additional hours to be taken as time off in single pay. Most outdoor staff  have a 9-day fortnight.

Sick/Carer's leave

15 days per annum for full time, pro-rata for part-time. Carer’s Leave is paid from your sick leave. Special conditions apply.

Annual leave

Employees are entitled to 11% superannuation in accordance with the legislation.

Reward for performance

Employees have the opportunity to progress through their salary range via our Performance Planning and Assessment (PPA) system.

We provide ongoing training for staff in the skills they need to stay up to date in their jobs. We also support our staff to complete internal training courses or external certificates and tertiary qualifications that will be useful to advance their career..

Casual work

Casual employees receive an additional 25% loading in-lieu of all leave and severance pay.

Staff in many roles can work from home for up to 2 days each week. Where it can fit within a team's roster and workload, staff can also negotiate to work part time or to have an early start or late finishing time to fit in with their lifestyle and personal commitments.

Transport Allowance

Health Matters

Health Matters is a holistic health improvement program, designed to improve the health and well-being of Council employees. Activities include exercise classes, flu vaccinations, skin checks, weekly fruit deliveries and health seminars.

Fitness Passport

We have developed a tailored program for North Sydney Council employees with the most popular gyms & pools chosen by our employees. Enjoy access to the 810+ fitness facilities included, for a fraction of the price of a traditional gym membership.

Money Matter$ - free financial advice

Our Money Matter$ Program is conducted in partnership with Active Super. All our employees are given the opportunity to meet with our superannuation specialist as part of the induction process and can then access up to two (2) hours of paid time each year to meet with the financial planner on-site.

Employee Assistance Program

The Employee Assistance Program (EAP) is a confidential, professional counselling service available free of charge to all employees and their families. The service can be provided over the phone or face to face. The EAP provides registered psychologists with whom employees may wish to discuss work matters and well as non-work matters such as stress, alcohol and drug problems, marital difficulties etc. Employees can also access information, such as articles and self-assessments online via Benestar.
