Description

Brightmore Reserve is located between Primrose Park and the strip of bushland along the foreshore below Wonga Road. It is an important link within the middle harbour’s cluster of bushland reserves and a wildlife corridor for North Sydney Council. The main vegetation communities here are Blackbutt Gully Forest and Angophora Foreshore Forest with a small remnant of Sandstone Gallery Rainforest that clings to the creek line below Little Young Street, Cremorne.

The foreshore slopes in this area have historically been impacted by surrounding developments and a tip below the access road at the end of the gully. In 2004, crushed sandstone capping was trialled in Brightmore Reserve below Little Young Street with great success, it was planted out with local native plants.

Brightmore Bushcare Group has been working to regenerate this site since 1994, they meet at two locations, Little Young Street and Little Wonga Road on the First and third Sunday of the full weekend from February through November.
