Description

The Bushcare Community Nursery Group was formed in 2011 following the opening of the Coal Loader Centre for Sustainability to produce local native plants to be used for the rehabilitation of Council's bushland reserves and to support the Bushcare programs.

Volunteers meet on the second and fourth Thursday of the month. They assist the Community Nursery Supervisor to undertake a variety of tasks including; sorting seed, producing cuttings, potting-up stock and maintaining the nursery facilities - a seed bank, propagation shelter, two hot houses, a shade house and hardening off benches.

Volunteers receive training and are invited to special events throughout the year.

Participation is limited to available workspace, interested community members may contact the Bushcare Nursery Supervisor or Bushcare Officer on 9936 8100 to get involved.

The Bushcare Community Nursery is one of few mid-week Bushcare Groups provided by Council, located close to toilets and transport services.
