North Sydney has once again been recognised as one of the most liveable places in the country, ranking 6th nationally and among the top three local government areas in NSW.

The national study, run between 30 March and 30 June 2025, asked residents across Australia what makes their neighbourhoods great places to live.
North Sydney scored particularly high for:

  • Connectivity – easy access to other neighbourhoods, employment centres and shops.

  • Personal safety – feeling safe for all ages, day and night.

  • Access to amenities – cafes, shops, health and wellness services.

  • Natural environment – scenic views, trees, and access to water and wildlife.

  • Visual character – the look and feel of local streets and buildings.

With a Place Experience (PX) score of 75/100, North Sydney sits in the top 10% of council areas nationally, reflecting our community’s strong connection to place and quality of life.

This is the third time North Sydney residents have participated in the Liveability Census, helping shape a clearer picture of what matters most to our community. The results will guide Council’s ongoing work to enhance public spaces, improve infrastructure and support wellbeing across the area.
