Exhibition guidelines
Prospective applicants are encouraged to visit the plinth to ensure artwork is suitable for the space. The plinth suits a range of work including sculpture, installation, suspended or site-responsive works. We will also consider imaginative and innovative exhibition proposals that explore new ways of using this unique space.
- the plinth is not staffed
- there are no hire fees. The artist is paid a artwork loan fee (NAVA rates)
- artists must enter into an artwork loan agreement
- artworks can be available for sale
- exhibitions will be promoted on Council's website and social media channels
Dimensions, weight, hanging and suitability
- Display space: 118 x 82 x 82cm
- Max artwork size (sculpture): up to 110 x 70 x 70cm maximum
- Max artwork size for for installation based: entire internal space of 118 x 82 x 82cm can be used
- Hanging: a hanging grid is permanently positioned for suspended works
- Weight: artworks must be LESS than 20kg
- Environmental conditions: plinth receives full sun, all day with no UV protection. Materials must direct sunlight, heat and potential colour fade
- Viewing conditions: artworks are seen from the pathway outside the plinth. Small artworks requiring close inspection to appreciate are not suitable.
- Lighting: plinth is lit at night
Exhibition duration, installation and deinstallation
- Exhibits run for a period of appox 6 weeks
- Artworks must be delivered and collected by the artist at the agreed time
- Unless otherwise agreed, the artist is responsible for installation and deinstallation under guidance from North Sydney Council staff
- Artworks must be stable
- Holes, marks or structural changes to the space are not permitted
